As a fish and chips enthusiast, it wasn’t long before I tried Hutt Street Chicken and Seafood after my friend’s recommendation. I should’ve done so earlier, as their fries were very succulent and soft with briney chicken salt that made each bite flavorful. 

The restaurant specializes in all things fried, from hot chips to chicken and seafood. What gives it that extra oomph is its in-house chicken salt, which has just the right saltiness.

Their serving sizes are large, making them especially recommendable for families. 

Besides that, their staff are friendly. 

Now about things they can improve, one is their inconsistent food quality. Also, orders can take 20 minutes. 

At Forbes Fish and Chips, I got my fresh and delicious hot chips almost instantly. 

Their hot chips are consistently remarkable with a perfect golden crisp on the outside and a tender, fluffy inside. Their distinct buttery flavor elevates them to the next level, especially when paired with their equally delicious seafood dishes.

They conveniently have many portion options too, from small to jumbo.

When it comes to downsides, however, they’ve received some complaints for rude service. Also, their portions are inconsistent when ordered via a delivery app. 

I first stumbled upon Sammy’s Fish & Chippery when looking for a fresh seafood meal, but I’ve made sure to order their hot chips whenever I return. The hot chips are delicately textured and lightly salted—perfect to pair with their fish.

The shop was founded by Sammy Klementou who launched the restaurant to be a sea-to-table dining spot. They source their ingredients (seafood, vegetables, and potatoes) locally.

It’s definitely evident in their seafood packs containing prawns, calamari, and scallops along with hot chips. These come with a mild seafood flavor, and the tartar sauce brings a pleasant tang. 

The shop also has a relaxed and well-maintained dining space. Its light blue Greek colors and retro design give it personality. 

That said, their prices are a bit high. Also, they’ve received complaints about putting the wrong items in takeout orders.

Lord of the Fries is for the vegans and vegetarians who still want the oily, salty goodness of fast food. 

Mandy and Mark founded this vegetarian fast-food restaurant to offer fast food using meat alternatives.

I didn’t get much of that fast food eating guilt because I was assured by a friendly server that the hot chips were fried in sunflower oil. 

The hot chips also come with 13 sauce options and in 3 variations (classic, shoestring, and sweet potato).

Downsides to the shop, however, include its high prices and inconsistent food quality.

Levant Eatery may sound familiar to you if you’re a fan of its cheeseburger sauce that’s extra cheesy and creamy. They apply the same creativity to their hot chips, resulting in a deliciously savory and salty snack.

The hot chips are made by the Al-Sweedy family, who, aside from cheeseburger sauce, also cook great Middle Eastern food like halloumi and falafel.

As a fan of the cuisine myself, I had to try their Street Pita Pocket, and boy it didn’t disappoint. It was filled to the brim with hot chips, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, making for a very crunchy and cheesy meal. 

Eating this was especially fun inside their branch in Hindley, as it’s spacious and well-maintained even during peak hours. 

The shop needs to improve, however, when it comes to customer service, as some clients found their servers a bit unresponsive. Also, the portions are inconsistent.
