  • Diverse walls
  • Offers climbing classes
  • Helpful and friendly staff
  • Reasonable price
  • Friendly atmosphere
  • Offers climbing shoes in the gym
  • No minimum age

Cons

  • Can get crowded
  • Some instances of the hold being dirty

Adelaide’s Bouldering Club is a nonprofit association that aims to help the new generation hone their skills in rock climbing. They also want to provide a place for experienced climbers to train.

To achieve their goals, the club offers climbing classes for visitors. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert, they have a coach to help you.

We also appreciate their passion for teaching kids and helping them improve their skills. They have no minimum age and can coach kids as young as five, so it’s a great place to start.

In addition, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They’re always ready to assist and answer questions that the customers have.

What we really like about them is how great they are with kids. While others may get frustrated quickly with how hard it is to handle kids, the staff and coaches do a great job at handling and teaching them.

On top of that, the friendly atmosphere also extends to the other climbers in the club. Everyone’s more than willing to strike conservation and help you with your climbing journey.

If you are worried about the walls, they have a good variety. They offer overhang, slab, vertical, and roof walls to make the challenges more interesting for climbers.

The club can get really crowded on weekends and holidays though. Climbers who prefer to avoid crowded places are recommended to avoid these days to get the best climbing experience possible.

Moreover, some holds may also get dirty at times. Some of them may get slippery too, so it can make climbing even more challenging,

Nonetheless, we still think this is the best rock climbing spot for kids and anyone who enjoys a communal atmosphere while climbing.

Pros

  • Can hold parties
  • Friendly and helpful staff
  • Wide range of activities
  • Free on-site parking
  • Accessible location
  • Has on-site café

Cons

  • Can get crowded
  • Food offered in the gym needs improvement
  • Pricey

BOUNCEinc is heaven for those who enjoy physical and fun activities. They offer a wide range of activities like rock climbing, dodgeball, skywalk, trampolines, and a lot more.

It’s a great place to bring kids, as they can enjoy other activities while the parents rock-climb. They may even bring their kids and climb together if they want.

The staff are also very helpful and friendly with everyone. Rock climbing can be an intimidating activity for kids, but they take their time teaching and helping kids gain confidence.

In addition, BOUNCEinc can host parties, and most of its customers are kids. It’s an excellent choice when you want to have the kids enjoy an adventurous and fun birthday party.

We also like that they have free on-site parking, although limited. If you’re not bringing your car, the gym is also accessible by public transport like buses.

It is worth noting that the place is popular among locals, so it can easily get crowded. You may only get to try a few of the activities during your session when there are a lot of people.

Another plus is they have an on-site café. Rock climbing and the other activities in the gym are tiring and may leave you hungry and thirsty, so it’s a great bonus that customers can just buy food inside.

The food, however, needs improvement. There are no halal or vegetarian options, and the burgers tend to be dry and bland.

All in all, BOUNCEinc is the perfect place for those who enjoy rock climbing but also want to bond with their kids and enjoy other activities.

Pros

  • Wide range of wall choices
  • Has walls for different grades
  • New challenge weekly
  • Welcoming atmosphere
  • Offer shoes in the gym
  • Has on-site café

Cons

  • Some holds need cleaning
  • Too much chalk
  • Pricey
  • No shower room available

Beyond Bouldering has the biggest indoor rock climbing facilities in South Australia, with three gyms located in Keswick, Kent Town, and Clovelly Park.

Beyond Bouldering offers a wide range of wall choices and over 4,000 climbing holds. They have moon boards, spray boards, and campus boards to provide the best climbing experience to visitors.

In addition, they reset their challenges weekly to give climbers 45 new challenges every week. Regulars may find it boring if the challenges remain the same, so it’s an excellent choice that they’re changed frequently.

We also like that they have different walls for different levels to accommodate as many people as possible. This makes it beginner-friendly; beginner-friendly rock climbing spots can be hard to find.

We are also big fans of the welcoming atmosphere in the gym. The staff and other climbers are polite and friendly to everyone.

During your time in the gym, you’ll hear cheers, get fist bumps, and hold conversations with other visitors or staff members.

The place is a little pricey though. A day pass is $22, and a 10-day pass costs $198.

There is also too much chalk everywhere. You’ll get chalk all over your body, especially if you fall on the mats.

This would be fine if they had shower rooms available, but visitors are likely to go home with chalk on their bodies since the facilities don’t have showers.

Nonetheless, this remains one of the best choices for anyone who wants the best climbing experience.

  • Good variety of challenges

  • Accommodates young kids
  • Offers gear in the gym
  • Impressive safety procedures

Cons

  • Limited walls for first-timers
  • Pricey

Another great place to visit with your kids is Vertical Reality Climbing (VRC).

VRC offers different setups for different levels. Both experienced and novice climbers will have something to have fun with during their stay.

As we mentioned earlier, the place also accommodates young kids.

The walls for first-timers and beginners, however, aren’t as extensive as the walls for intermediate-level and expert-level climbers. There’s still a good variety, so you won’t have much to worry about.

If you do not have gear, VRC offers gear you can hire inside the gym. You can hire a harness for $6.50 and shoes for $7.50.

The staff are also very helpful. They’ll be there to assist and guide you every step of the way.

Another thing we like is their seriousness about safety. They perform safety inductions when you come in, and they do it in a manner that’s easy to understand and follow.

Cons

  • More dangerous than going to rock climbing gyms
  • Climbing tours can be expensive

Onkaparinga River National Park is the place to go if you prefer to climb permanent rock pools. Just 28.5 km from Adelaide, Onkaparinga is a paradise for passionate rock climbers.

The place has a wide range of terrains that visitors can climb. The walls can go as high as 30 metres, so you’ll definitely get a thrilling climbing experience.

Climbers can enjoy about 14 walls in the area and over 300 routes. Top ropes and lead climbing are also available, so that’s not something you should worry about.

On top of that, you get to enjoy the scenic view of Onkaparinga River National Park.

Climbing tours, however, can be expensive. Most of them cost over $140, but it will be worth it when you reach the top and see the beautiful view.

It is also worth noting that this is more dangerous than regular rock climbing gyms. So safety precautions should always be followed, as accidents can happen.

Overall, we believe this is the best place for those looking for an outdoor rock climbing experience.
