6 Best Freeze-Dried Candy Stores in Adelaide That Reminded Us of Childhood

As a kid, I loved freeze-dried candies so much that I’d run errands for neighbours in exchange for some cash to buy some.

Now an adult, I still love the taste of my childhood. But when my local store closed down, I had to go look for a new favourite spot. Luckily, Adelaide still has plenty of stores where I could buy some.

If you’re looking to reminisce about the good ol’ days, I got you. As a self-proclaimed candy expert, here are my picks for the best freeze-dried candy stores in Adelaide!

Sweets and Treats Adelaide is the first freeze-dried online candy shop in the region! They have an array of sweets, from tangy freeze-dried fruits to crunchy chocolate-covered treats.

Their freeze-dried lineup includes fruity favourites like strawberries, bananas, mangoes, and apples. If you’re after classics, they also have gummy bears and chocolate-dipped goodies.

On top of that, they’ve got traditional lollies, sugar-free options, and specialty sweets from the UK and US.

As a fan of Nerds, I was amazed they have Geek Treats or Nerd Clusters. For $10, the candies were airy and packed with flavour!

Tip: For $8, you can pick and mix a variety of candies, like gummies, chocolates, or sour treats to your freeze-dried option.

I tried their freeze-dried chocolate-covered strawberries, which melted in my mouth after a crunch. I couldn’t get enough of it, and for its price of $8, it’s worth it!

They have a solid range of freeze-dried candy, including strawberries, bananas, and mixed fruit combos. On top of that, the shelves are also packed with chocolates, gummies, sour lollies, and novelty sweets.

I love how they kept their freeze-dried candies punchy and fresh. My go-to here is the bananas—sweet and slightly tangy. It nailed the taste of ripe bananas, with none of that artificial aftertaste.

My favourite here is the Peach Rings. You get a burst of sweetness and tanginess after melting it in your mouth!

Hahndorf Sweets is a charming old-school lolly shop packed with childhood favourites, locally made treats, and international goodies. For their freeze-dried treats, you’ll have varieties like marshmallows and watermelons, among others.

They also have other treats like boiled lollies, Dutch licorice, and coconut quivers. And if you want to avoid gluten, there are bonbons, humbugs, and apple rocks.

I’m a fan of their freeze-dried marshmallows. The soft and chewy marshmallow became light and crispy. It also became sweeter because of the freeze-drying process!

Tip: Their freeze-dried candies are very popular and sell out quickly. Call the shop first if they have some stocks left before visiting.
