Pros

- Dog daycare available
- Effective training method
- Offers various obedience and confidence training options
Cons
- Communication with owners needs improvement
Gepps Cross Dog Training Centre offers comprehensive obedience programs designed to transform your dog into a well-behaved and socially confident companion. With classes available for dogs of all ages and breeds, the Centre focuses on building trust and communication between owners and their pets through persistence, patience, and praise. The Centre’s volunteers are dedicated to helping you and your dog enjoy a positive learning experience.
One of the key advantages of Gepps Cross Dog Training Centre is their use of positive reinforcement strategies, which help build trust and strengthen the bond between you and your dog. The Centre caters to all levels of training, from beginner to advanced, ensuring that each dog progresses at its own pace. Additionally, their community engagement allows dog owners to connect, share experiences, and build relationships with fellow pet enthusiasts.
Another benefit is the affordability of the Centre’s membership options, making high-quality dog training accessible to more people. The Centre’s flexibility is also commendable, with classes offered every Sunday and no need for prior booking. Their expert trainers provide ongoing support, and the program is designed to improve not just obedience but also social behavior, ensuring your dog is well-rounded in different environments.
In conclusion, Gepps Cross Dog Training Centre is an excellent choice for dog owners looking for a supportive, community-driven environment that prioritizes positive reinforcement. Pros
- Experienced and qualified trainers
- Dog daycare available
- Effective training method
- Offers various obedience and confidence training options
Cons
- Communication with owners needs improvement
- No phone number
Canine Connect was established by Scott McGuinness after working at a dog daycare facility in Adelaide. Now it is one of the highest-rated dog training centres in Adelaide.
Canine specialises in rehabilitation and behavioural modification, but it also offers other services like dog day school, board and train, and puppy school.
What we like about this dog training centre is its pool of experienced and qualified dog trainers. All trainers are nationally accredited and recognised by the National Dog Trainers Federation.
The trainers hold a certificate in dog behaviour and training. In fact, some of them have B.S. degrees in Animal Science, while some have certificates in animal studies.
We value these qualifications, as they’ll be working with dogs, and we want to be assured that our fur babies are in good hands.
We also love that they can do private and group lessons to give owners more options. This also allows the dogs to learn in a comfortable environment.
We just think that their communication system with the owners needs improvement. There are instances when owners with puppies enrolled in day school don’t get daily updates and feedback.
The centre’s lack of a telephone number also makes it hard for clients to contact them. Although they have an email, it usually takes days to receive a reply, and it’s less effective than phone calls.

Pros
- Tailors teaching method to the dog’s needs
- Has an online shop
- Dog daycare available
- Offers grooming
Cons
- Some instances of scheduling problems
- Relatively expensive
With their tagline “Because every dog matters,” Advance Behavioural Training has continuously worked hard to create an environment that values every dog left to their care.
What impressed us about this centre is they tailor their way of teaching to the needs of the dogs. They carefully observe the dog and create a teaching plan to help them improve.
We also love that they constantly update fur parents about their puppies. They post photos on their Facebook accounts to assure owners that their dogs are being taken care of.
Another advantage this centre has is its online shop which lets owners purchase toys, grooming materials, training aids, and treats.
It’s also convenient for owners that the centre offers grooming services, as they don’t have to go to a different groomer before driving to the lessons.
The only drawbacks would be its rates and some scheduling problems that former clients experienced.
While the rates remain reasonable for the kind of service they’re providing, it’s still worth noting that they charge a little bit higher compared to other smaller dog training facilities.
There are also some clients who experienced mixed up with their schedules. Some were given the wrong dates, while some’s appointments were pushed back.
These scheduling problems, however, rarely happen. If you’re worried about being given the wrong date, contact the centre again and confirm your schedule.

Pros
- 67 years in business
- Affiliated with the South Australian Canine Association
- No need to book classes
- Offers different levels of training difficulty
Cons
- Classes are only held on Tuesdays
- Few reports of rude behaviour from trainers
- Limited training options
Since its establishment in 1955, South Australian Obedience Dog Club (SAODC) has helped thousands of dog owners train their dogs.
The centre is run by volunteers who are passionate about helping dogs achieve their best potential. They’re friendly and have years of experience handling dogs, so you don’t have to worry about the well-being of your fur babies.
SAODC is also affiliated with the South Australian Canine Association. Hence, they follow the association’s rules and regulations when it comes to dog training.
We love that the centre offers different levels of training difficulty to match the level of knowledge and skill each dog has. This allows the dogs to learn at their own pace and enjoy their lessons.
It’s also convenient that owners don’t have to book classes. Once they become members, the dog can automatically join the weekly training sessions.
It’s just a pity that classes are only held on Tuesdays. This may stop many fur parents from being club members, as they may not always be free during those days.
Another thing we were disappointed about is a few reports of rude behaviour from some trainers. While it’s important to be good at handling dogs, we also think trainers should be kind to the fur parents.

Pros
- 56 years in operation
- Offers different levels of training
- Offers rally obedience trial
- Social class available
Cons
- Limited operating hours
- Limited training options
Southern Districts Kennel and Obedience Dog Club (SDK&ODC) has been around for 56 years and has been operating to train family dogs to become excellent community members.
The club is run by volunteers who have immense love for dogs and go above and beyond to help them receive their dog training certificates.
We also love that dogs can still participate in agility training and social class even after receiving their certificates and graduating from behavioural training.
Agility training requires the dog to go through obstacles like hoops, tunnels, see-saws, frames, and weaving poles. It can be a fun sport for both the owner and the dogs.
Social class, on the other hand, caters to dogs and owners who aren’t fond of highly competitive and energetic activities.
Unlike other training centres that offer a lot of services like grooming and daycare, SDK&ODC offers only training-related services.
The only services offered by the club are behavioural training, agility training, social class, and rally obedience training. All of which are similar to services offered by other centres.
They also have limited operating hours compared to other centres. Training only happens for a few hours on Wednesdays and Sundays, which may not be enough for some dogs.

Pros
- Personalised training solution
- Positive training reinforcement
- Class schedule depends on the owner’s discretion
- Experienced and qualified dog trainer
- Offers various training options
Cons
- No physical headquarters
- 2 trainers only
- Doesn’t offer group sessions
If you have a busy schedule and can’t find time to bring your dogs to training centres, Best Friend Dog Care (BFDC) is the perfect choice for you and your fur baby.
With Best Friend Dog Care, the trainer will personally go to your place to conduct the training. The class hours will also depend on your discretion, so you don’t have to worry about adjusting your busy schedule.
Another benefit of BFDC is they create personalised training solutions for each dog. As each lesson is conducted privately, they have better chances of understanding your dog’s learning style and catering to it.
Moreover, the trainers are highly qualified and experienced in dog training. Both trainers have certificates and workshops that make them more than capable of handling your dogs.
Tamara, one of the trainers, is an accredited dog behavioural consultant and dog trainer by the National Dog Trainers Federation. She’s also certified by the Pet Professional Guild and the Delta Dog Bite Prevention Dog Safe.
On the other hand, Brianna has a degree in animal behaviour and has worked alongside numerous animals throughout her career. She has also attended the Safe Dog Handling Workshop that Total Dog Canine Services held.
It’s just a pity that the centre only has two trainers, limiting the number of dogs they can train.
They also don’t offer group sessions which can significantly help dogs learn how to interact with other dogs and feel confident in socialising with other people.
