Pros

  • Long history of legal service
  • Award-winning lawyers
  • Easy to contact

Cons

  • Estimated fees are not posted on their site

Established in 1970, Tindall Gask Bentley (TGB) Lawyers has a solid reputation of over 40 years in legal services in Adelaide. Not only that, it’s widely-known for its excellent track record in cases related to personal injuries.

TGB currently has 27 lawyers that handle cases related to civil litigation. Aside from their legal and professional reputation, these lawyers have received largely positive feedback from their former clients.

TGB knows how stressful civil cases can be for clients. So to take the stress level down a notch, they’ve helpfully provided an interactive guide on their website that takes clients through the different personal injury claims and what routes are possible.

In addition, they offer free initial interviews for personal injury cases, which we like. This provides a good space for clients to air out their grievances and get an expert opinion on what their chances are should they file a claim.

Clients who have sought help for civil cases consistently praise their lawyers on how detailed, thorough, and understanding they are. They make sure that they’re on top of every case, even if some of them drag on for four or five years.

Having no specific fees visible on their website is the only downside we can see. However, given that they have various specialties, we can safely assume that rates vary – it would therefore be best to get in touch with the appropriate department to enquire.

Aside from their office in Adelaide, TGB also has branches in Reynella, Salisbury, Mount Barker, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, and Perth.

Pros

  • Experienced lead lawyers
  • Simplifies the legal process for clients
  • Free 30-minute consultation
  • 24/7 availability

Cons

  • Relatively newer than other firms in the area
  • Profiles of other lawyers cannot be easily searched online

Evans Testa Barristers & Solicitors was founded in 2013 and is currently led by Lauraine Evans and Phil Testa.

The two lawyers have 40 years of combined experience in the legal field, which is nothing short of impressive. While Lauraine specialises in Criminal Law, Phil mainly focuses on Civil Litigation.

In terms of civil litigation, the firm provides legal assistance in Traffic Law, Wills and Estates. and Personal Injury Law.

Previous clients have praised this firm on how they can thoroughly explain and simplify the legal process for them.

This not only means that they were kept in the loop throughout the proceeding, but also that they fully understood what was happening and what to expect at every step.

There are two things that separate Evans Testa Barristers & Solicitors among other lawyers, one of which is their offer of a free 30-minute call consultation for each client. This immediately covers frequently asked questions when consulting lawyers.

Another is their 24/7 availability, which their clients surely appreciate. Civil cases can be stressful experiences, and it helps to know that you have legal counsel at the other end of the line at any point during the day.

We just wish they would update their website with the complete information of the other lawyers on their roster. More discerning clients are very particular about these details, with some of them even eyeing specific lawyers in advance before making the call.

Pros

  • Wide range of legal services available
  • Warm and communicative team
  • Honest with fees and rates

Cons

  • Relatively newer than other firms in the area

CPC Lawyers was established in 2013 and is headed by Theodosi Cotsaris, who has 20 years of legal experience and was nominated for the Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2019.

The firm consists of 9 lawyers in total. Most previous clients of CPC Lawyers commend the team for being professional, dependable, proactive, and very communicative at every step of  the process.

We laud CPC Lawyers for their willingness to take on difficult cases. One client was especially grateful that the firm took on his case, which was quite complex, and even getting him a decent settlement.

We can’t say the same for other firms. It would be easy for a lawyer not to give a case the time of day because of the potential headache it may cause him or her – so CPC Lawyers gets top marks from us in this aspect.

Most likely due to the founder’s roots, CPC offers services for Greek-speaking clients. This is great news for both Greek-Australian residents, many of whom have chosen to make their home in Adelaide (after Sydney and Melbourne).

CPC Lawyers offers an estimate of their legal fees before you decide to make a commitment. Clients are appreciative of this as they are able to weight the cost of filing a civil case before proceeding.

Despite their relative newcomer status in the industry, we think that CPC lawyers has proven their mettle in this line of work and are worth giving a call.

Pros

  • Caters to different legal needs
  • Fair fees
  • Free consultation
  • Responds to clients within the day
  • Specific contact details of all lawyers are available on the website
  • Available by appointment after hours

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Beger & Co Lawyers was established in 1997 by current CEO Danny Beger. The legal team consists of 9 members with more than a decade of experience each.

Its expert in civil litigation, Peter Jakobsen, has been practising law since 1983. Since then, he has appeared in cases before the Supreme, Magistrate Courts and in the Muirhead Royal Commission.

Clients who availed their services for civil litigation commend them for going the extra mile to help them understand the process and be clear with what’s expected of each party.

We were also happy to hear that Beger & Co responds to clients’ questions about fees and services within the day. Previous clients commented that their fees are fairly-priced, which is always a good thing.

We’re just disappointed that their office is not available on weekends. So if you are someone who has a tightly-packed schedule during weekdays, you should probably consider the other firms on this list instead.

Having said this, do note that they are open after hours, albeit by appointment. We feel more reassured knowing that clients can at least get in touch with them for the most part of the weekday – they just need to remember to schedule in advance.

Pros

  • Over 50 years of expertise
  • 28-strong team of lawyers specialising in different aspects of the law
  • Informative website
  • 4 locations across Adelaide
  • Actively involved in the community
  • No win, no fee offer

Cons

  • High caseload
  • Closed on weekends
  • No online or video consultations available

Founded in 1970, DBH Lawyers is a firm that offers full competency in various aspects of the law.

The firm currently has 31 lawyers in Adelaide that cater to a variety of legal needs in civil law. They have services for cases related to wills, family and commercial laws, but many clients of DBH Lawyers go to them for cases concerning personal injury.

What we find noteworthy about DBH Lawyers is that they aren’t intimidated by complex cases. These include difficult-to-prove cases such as compensation claims for victims of sexual abuse whose abuse happened years ago.

Many clients commend how professional, knowledgeable, and respectful the legal teams are. It doesn’t matter if the case they’re handling is big or small – they are said to be focused on acting in the best interest of the client regardless.

We also hear that their fees are reasonable, which is always welcome news as hiring a lawyer can be quite costly. Thankfully, they also have a no win, no fee policy – which means clients don’t need to shell out initially to get their case started.

Perhaps what gives us pause here is their reportedly heavy caseload. This might be an issue for clients with urgent issues that need addressing.
