My best friend bought his very first fishing boat here and one of the brokers, Jo, was very helpful with his decision process. They narrowed down a couple of boats and brands, and then finally settled with a Mustang sports cruiser. He was happy with how smooth the transaction was and how friendly Jo was.

The only downside he could think of was the lack of a physical office in Adelaide. It would’ve been convenient if there had been one in case of problems.

Aside from new and used boats, Sports Marina also offers trailers, outboard engines, and boat servicing. It also has Club Marine, a customizable boat insurance, which can be accessed through their website.

An acquaintance of a colleague bought a used fishing boat from them, and he was pleased with their quick service. Their customer service answered his online boat inquiry within the day, and they even gave him ideas on what outboard motors would suit his chosen model. Their team neatly fitted the motor he picked and then carefully packed the boat for him.

However, it’s such a shame that they’re closed on Sundays since some potential clients are only available during that day (like me). 

Another interested customer was ignored in the store because it was so busy, so adding more sales staff would be good.

Job done well

I went in to Sports Marine to get a HIN number verified on a boat I bought interstate yesterday. It was all I needed to do before transporting it a long distance behind my car out of Adelaide. Peter and his team were just amazing. I was gobsmacked! Other than the HIN verification, they took amazing care of  packing me up, tying down a really big awkward bimini making sure new number plates were screwed on tie down straps were on properly…WITH CARPET under them. They just did it all! I didn’t ask them for any of it! They are absolute Stars! If you need a boat or anything related you won’t do better than Sports Marine. Unbelievable commitment to professionalism! Well done all of you and thanks again👍

Whether you’re looking for new boat options or used boat engines, Hodge Marine has your sailing basics in one place. It also offers services to keep your boat in good condition, such as repairs and maintenance. 

Their mechanics are also well trained and Mercury Marine-certified (Marine Mechanic Training program specific for Mercury engines).

My uncle bought a used freshwater fishing boat from them, and he was happy with the unit and the service he received. He wasn’t sure of what outboard machine he needed for it, and their staff provided him with a lot of options with no pressure to buy. He ended up with a brand new outboard machine, and they efficiently installed the unit for him.

However, an acquaintance of his didn’t receive a good service. They never replied to his inquiry about a new fishing boat, so he ended up buying somewhere else.

From boats to boat insurance, Pacific Marine and RV offers a wide variety of services for anglers and sailors alike. Since the mid-70s, they have been servicing boats and have amassed over 100 workshop-checked used boats to sell to interested enthusiasts.

A colleague’s dad bought a boat from them for both leisure and fishing. His dad wasn’t well-versed in boats, so he was glad they helped him decide on a brand new Seafarer and fitted it with a new motor. The entire transaction, from inquiry to delivery, was quick and efficient.

However, I have to point out that they’re understaffed. An interested customer wasn’t prioritized in their inquiry via phone call. The staff was busy handling another issue in their store.

Peace of mind! I visited these guys a month ago to have a look at different boating options. Paul was brilliant and assisted me in choosing the right style for my needs. He also gave me confidence with his knowledge and information, that I was buying the right boat and from the right people. If you want peace of mind when buying a new or used boat, go and see Paul but also have a chat with Adrian in the Service Department. These guys know their stuff and now I have been using the boat, it turns out I was right in my judgement of the quality of the products, and the team that works there. They have shown they not only are there for me only to sell the boat, but they have helped me with all my questions since then.

Just purchased a new 100hp Honda from Pacific Marine.  Could not be happier with the service, both sales and work shop. Southern Cross Marine Australia doesn’t only have a wide variety of boat models, but it also has services catered to keep your boat protected and in top shape while at sea. Their staff members are Marine Card holders (the Marine Card shows compliance with marine workplace health and safety standards) and trained to handle boats.

A friend of a friend bought an Oceanis sailing yacht from them, and the staff was accommodating with his inquiry. He gave them his expectations and plans with the boat, and they provided him with a list of boats until they narrowed it down to one. Their selling process was seamless, and they ensured that the boat was delivered safely to him. 

However, they don’t cater to walk-ins, so you have to book an appointment with them to check out their boats and see what they have to offer.

Another downside is they’re closed on weekends, which means you have to take a leave of absence from work to buy a boat.

Trustworthy business

The mark of a great business to deal with is the level of after sales service when they’ve got nothing to gain from giving it. I purchased a boat, sight unseen, from Queensland so one would expect a few videos calls to get the sale across the line. But for Mark to initiate a video call after I’d taken delivery to not just answer specific questions but to give a thorough rundown on the operations was a much appreciated service. My experience… 100% trustworthy to do business with.
